Z31Turboed: (2014-11-04 21:41:09)

Is a PT 6262 too big to fit in the stock location?

1985 Z31 Turbo sans AC

FrozenZ: (2014-11-04 22:56:59)

rick88ss is running that. But if you are ditching A/C why not just relocate the turbo, it makes life waaaaaayyyy easier.

HarvesterUT: (2014-11-05 03:12:19)

It looks like rick88ss is also running a VG33. Is that turbo too big for a VG30?

ozzyrulez: (2014-11-05 04:17:11)

As far as I know he's currently running a VG30 and had removed the VG33

Rick88ss: (2014-11-05 05:25:36)

Currently running a vg30 with a 6262. It fits in the stock location even with the bigger S housing.

HarvesterUT: (2014-11-05 23:33:40)

Rick,

If you could do it again, would you stick with the 6262 or go with something else (HX35, etc.)? You seem like you've done this a few times, and I am just getting started. Thanks.

FlawleZ: (2014-11-05 23:37:51)

The 6262 should never be compared to an HX35. That's such an insult…

I'll post a pic of my 6262 in the stock location before my tubular manifolds later tonight.

HarvesterUT: (2014-11-06 00:27:44)

What clutch setup you guys running?

FlawleZ: (2014-11-06 00:49:46)

I'm running the Stage V+ DXD South bend pressure plate with a kevlar solid disc.

HarvesterUT: (2014-11-06 01:16:12)

Good to know. I've driven the DXD stage 3 daily, and I find it easier to drive than my old 350z.

6262 is a very good size turbo thay's capable of making over 600whp on about 25-28 psi of boost.

How much power are you looking for? Street or drag/top end performance?

HarvesterUT: (2014-11-07 16:40:14)

Rick,

See my thread about that issue here. But to save you the click, basically, I want to keep my A/C and everything I can in stock locations. Power goal is ~500hp primarily for the street. Don't need a drag monster and certainly don't want to have to flog the engine just to have fun. Wide, mid-range power band is what I like. I intend to build the bottom-end & heads, plenum/exhaust flow, and fuel/ecu work, of course.

Any advice you have is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would go with a 6262 with a T3 exhaust .63 housing

Is that because the T3 outlet will bolt right up?

I could see how that would be the case.

Anyone still selling a relocation pipe in case I decided to go that way?

Correct

FlawleZ: (2014-11-18 05:12:26)

This is when I originally installed my 6262. It fits in the stock location better than my old T3/T4. I'll find more pics installed in the car.

FlawleZ: (2014-11-18 05:19:17)

Here we go…excuse the large photos…

lol zomg those fugly brackets I made back in 2010…

HarvesterUT: (2014-11-18 16:45:15)

Nice photos Flawlez. Questions:

- what injector/rails/pump are you using?

- Is plenum gutted?

- Any headwork?

- Did you keep a/c? Is i/c piping still possible with that set-up?

Z31Turboed: (2014-11-20 02:36:42)

Very nice photos. Thanks.

Z31Turboed: (2014-11-20 02:51:49)

Because I removed all my AC components. I can see how it would probably be convenient to re-locate the turbo. Might be expensive…but convenient.

IF…I could still find a relocation setup.

The stock location kind of disagrees with the compressor intake side a bit. That frame member is right there.

Would it be correct to assume that a relocation pipe would have a T4 outlet, not T3?

Flawlez....

Is that still your current setup?

SATAN: (2014-11-27 05:56:49)

I can make you a relocation pipe/manifold with either a T3 or a T4 outlet. A T3 would be plenty for your goals though, and that is what I would recommend.

Back then he was running stock fuel rails, gutted plenum, DSM 450s (I think), walbro 255, Schneider 274 cams, mildly ported heads, 110lb valve springs, 3 angle valve job. He has no A/C. Here's a video on that set up Flawlez VG30 start up: http://youtu.be/49YSU_LO4K4
