seexxxy.. you guys are insane..,…
MrwassmanNA2T: (2006-07-01 22:17:15)
that has to be the smallest turbo i have ever seen
- wink:
FlawleZ: (2006-07-01 23:41:01)
Good....night....
What are the specs on the turbo? Engine?
SteveZ: (2006-07-01 23:46:56)
The Turbo is a GT42R (The smaller one I believe) Not sure the specs on the motor im sure he will chime in.
Jason84NA2T: (2006-07-02 01:42:03)
I knew hw was up to something.... but this completely blindsided me. That is HOT. Hope he hops in to give us some info!
t70: (2006-07-02 05:27:14)
your turbo is bigger than my turbo! hehe… yikes! I love that front mount throttle body! that must flow like hell!
SATAN: (2006-07-02 05:58:36)
Q45 throttle body
860cc siemens injectors
Eagle rods
J.E. pistons (rings gapped to .020 on top and .024 on bottom) that way the top ring stays seated during combustion.
Block o-ringed
sheet metal intake
all -8 an fittings and lines
custom fuel rails
dual walbro 255lph's
Electromotive TEC2
4in turbo back exhaust
cams, ported and polished heads and a lot of other junk. you know the basic stuff to hold and make lots of power.
88T: (2006-07-02 09:17:12)
Wow that turbo is unreal! Fire it up and get some clips online, Im sure everyone here would love to here that monster!
Jason84NA2T: (2006-07-02 16:30:51)
Now THAT is a setup.
Finally.
Why has it taken this long for people to truly build a VG to it's potiential? Kudos. You and Steve are going to probably have the fastest Z31's in the nation. Heck, I'll be happy if I'm still in the top 10 in a couple years.
Are you running the twin walbros in parallel both feeding a -8AN hardline from the tank? I was thinking of doing that same thing in preparation for my little 'project' here.
SATAN: (2006-07-02 17:26:36)
two walbro's running parallel on -6 stainless braided into a -6 -6 -8 Y then into hardline to the engine bay up to the filter with is also -8 in and out then -8 stainless from the filter all the way to through the rails to the regulator and -6 hard line back to the tank.
SATAN: (2006-07-02 17:31:51)
The car WILL be bad ass. however once I get it back together its not going to be insainly fast yet. maybe low 10's with busting axles a lot. Axles and a clutch. But I have to put the car on hold for a while due to the fact that I'm getting married in june of next year. gotta start seriously saving for that. I figure if she lets me spend as much time and money as I want on the z( that and she loves cars) then I can do the wedding thing.

holy tits…4inch exhaust.
OR-Zman: (2006-07-03 03:40:34)
Now that is a going to be a nice set up man. Major kudos to you....
Congrats on the marriage…I have one coming up also. Dont let the flowers, caterers and other BS drag you into the poor house. It can be tough, but a wedding doesnt have to break the bank, or interfere with the Z.
Show them my motto…
SATAN: (2006-07-03 04:43:35)
yeah if you go to this link, this is what the car was last year with the T-66 running 11.5 in the 1/4 on stock dsm injectors with stock rails and one walbro. It had the 4in exhaust last year. luckily when I bought the gt42r it came with a 4" v-band out let so I didnt have to mod the exhaust at all!!! [archived image: biggrin.png]

Sooooo what do you plan to do for the rear end? We all know good and well the stock half shafts won't hold. Something custom in mind?
G-E: (2006-07-21 01:13:25)
he needs to be looking at international or mack catalogs I think [archived image: smile.png]
FlawleZ: (2006-07-21 01:15:02)
LoL! True story!

That looks awesome. Love the intake.
Jason84NA2T: (2006-07-21 03:07:21)
Try not to get half-shafts and axle stubs mixed up. The (turbo) half shafts are pretty beefy and hard to break unless they have a lot of wear.

Well I wasn't necessarily getting them mixed up, I was just under the impression that seeing as how the GT42R is capable of over 1000 RWHP and we know he'll be making atleast 10 second passes, that the half shafts would still not be strong enough. Am I mistaken?
Jason84NA2T: (2006-07-21 03:21:43)
Well yeah, but the axle stubs will still most likely still break first. They are the weakest link.
Domdogg123: (2006-07-21 03:33:19)
Goodbye!
SATAN: (2006-07-22 01:21:39)
I was looking into axle stubs and berrings made by Modern motorsports but for the whole kit they want somthing like $1400  I also still have to do a clutch. Blah! Money money money!
I guess you gotta pay to go fast. However I could give Moser a call with some measurments and have them make me what I need for cheaper but I would still have to find the berrings that would fit a larger axle stub. Oh and the half shafts will hold a 2700 lbs car well into the 8's so I think that my 3000lb car should do 9's easily if I can get the stuff.
Oh and the intake manifold looks like shit right now, but I'm not done with it. I still have to grind down the welds and make it look pretty.
Its hard to stay as motivated as I used to be though  So dont wait for me, get out there and start doing your own super beefy stuff and running nines or even faster!
craZed: (2006-07-22 01:31:51)
I wonder how much stronger you can make the axle stubs by
having them cryo-treated?
SATAN: (2006-07-22 01:48:51)
not much. people have tried that and they still break at around a 1.6 60' time
84z31: (2006-07-22 02:31:50)
this guy does wonders to drivetrain parts. my cro treats them. he builds mainly toyota axle parts. but he is known to do custom stuff. the front ends of toyotas with stock axles seem to snap with 35" tires on them. with his treatment its possible to run 42" tires. these trucks are usually geared aroung 128:1. so multiply the stock torque of the four banger of 125ft/#. it comes out to 16000 ft/# torque.
it would be interesting to see what kind of torque the stock rear end can take. you'd have to multiply your torque and tire grip (not really sure what you would call that). to figure out how much stress is being put into the rear end.
anyway talk to him or email him.
http://www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/
but once you fix one weak link you'll find the next really fast. after we got a decient birfield for the toyota the ring and pinions started to die. they are actually easy to change in a toyota because all you do is pull the axle and drop the third member out.
just an idea submitted by your humble pupil.
SATAN: (2006-07-22 04:18:13)
I'll check it out eventually. I gots no dollars right now tho so its pointless to call or email and bug somone saying "Hey! Ive got no money but tell me what you are capable of doing for me!"
after the axle stubs its the clutch if that hasnt been done, and after that its the limited slip not holding like it should. So you can weld it together but at that point why not just go live axle? screw the IRS on a drag car, right? right. I dont want Ford parts on my nissan.
G-E: (2006-07-22 04:29:37)
I'm sure you could somehow swap in some 84 200sx solid rear end.... [archived image: smile.png]
they use r180's I think so you would potentially have plenty of donor subarus for lsds
84z31: (2006-07-22 04:44:13)
i wasn't sure what you were using your car for.
but for drag racing, i'd say a 9". there are about a million gear ratios. they are pretty quick to change the gear ratio.
they must have about a million choices for gears. the 9" is strong and there is so much support you wouldn't believe it. and a full spool for it is around $100.00.
just options for the future.
are you going to go with a 4 link set up for the suspension?
SATAN: (2006-07-22 04:46:00)
That sounds kinda um, cool? but then I'm back at square one figuring out the limitations of oem crap. OOOHHH I could just go with the Titan rear end, Ok now Its just getting too involved. I'm all about doing new things, but only when there is no simple current way of getting around the problem.
