I've searched the web and the forums high and low yet I'm still without an answer to my conundrum. Is there a difference, other than mounting location, between the fog lamps on a 84-86 z and a 87-89 z? And are they interchangeable or not?

Not interchangable. Two different shapes and locations. Kouki fog lamp won't fit in a zenki bumper cover unless you do a Frankenstein mod. Go ahead, try it.
