Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

I'm near Montgomery, but I'd be willing to head down there (provided my Z is cooperating at that time, she has her moments… lol)

NizmoZ31: (2012-03-30 04:55:55)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

Don't worry, mine is in the middle of her moment…blown head gasket at the moment. But getting paid next friday for a 50 hour work week so will have the money to get alll the things I need to do it myself. Probably gonna start planning when she's back on the road. What would be a good time for you man?

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

I have no idea. My schedule is always busy, lol. Usually I have to just claim a certain weekend and make sure it stays clear. I'm free Friday-Sunday though so a weekend meet would be cool. Maybe something in mid-May?

NissanEgg: (2012-03-30 18:08:44)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

Why not have the meat near Montgomery? That way more people would come from all over the state. It's a long drive for me to get down to the Mobile area coming from Auburn.

turblown: (2012-03-30 19:53:03)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

I could get down with that, haha. :-P I know some good places to eat around here!

Edit: Any other AL guys on here?

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

I am too far north. If it was Bham I would consider.

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

Guys, Bham perhaps? I don't mind driving that far.

NizmoZ31: (2012-03-31 04:38:42)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

It's up to you guys for real, it doesn't matter to me. I don't mind going as far as Bham for it(or maybe Auburn?), it'll deffinantly be worth it. At any rate we can safely assume that it will take place in mid/upper AL. That being said will I will need alot of help lots of help from people that already live in/know the area that we decide on. As for the time, I'm thinking mid-june ish. theres alot of stuff that I want to do to my Z and don't know if i'll have her done by May (even though 3 or so weeks isn't that much farther away).

NissanEgg: (2012-03-31 04:54:15)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

There's some great roads around the B'ham area for scenic cruising and what not. Even Mt. Cheaha is about 1hr away has has about 25-30 miles of mountain driving, which 13 miles are on the back side with lots of tight turns, rises and drops, and steeply banked turns. I love blasting up and down the back side multiple times in the Sentra. Haven't had the Z out there yet.

NizmoZ31: (2012-03-31 06:19:46)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

Sounds good to me, so mid june in Birmingham. grab lunch then hit the cruise 8) are there any tracks near there?

turblown: (2012-03-31 15:31:24)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

That sounds great…if I can fix this stutter in my car. She wouldn't be too peppy up the mountains right now. LOL. I'm cool with mid-June. Heaven help me if the car is still running wonky by then!

I'll pitch in my .02 and say if we're going to Bham, Chuy's at the Summit is the best restaurant in town. They serve TexMex and have the -best- fajitas I've ever had!

NizmoZ31: (2012-04-01 02:49:27)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

Sounds great. I didn't think all this would come together so quickly. Still curious about the track but even if there isn't it's all good, cruise w/ lunch sounds like an awesome combo

NissanEgg: (2012-04-01 02:53:40)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

There's Barber Motorsports Park in the B'ham area, and Steele Raceway in Steele, it's a 1/4 track.

I'm not too fond of that track. Last time I ran on it (2004) I busted my transmission in my NX2000 and had to tow it 250 miles back home to Dothan. Lots of people were complaining of the track prep that day.

NizmoZ31: (2012-04-01 03:16:24)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

Not fond of which track, Steele or Barber? Don't want anyone towing there babies home for sure. Track is just an idea, what we maybe could do is that the people that would like to could hit the track post-cruise and people that didn't could come and hang out or go there separate ways.

turblown: (2012-04-01 13:55:31)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

Sounds solid. I'd love to see some on the track, but mine isn't getting on one yet. So, lunch > cruise > track and hangout? Also, do we just want Z cars or are we inviting other people? I've got two friends that have a 2005 Legacy Spec.B and a 2012 Mustang that would probably be down to hang and/or track their cars.

zachary.ard: (2012-04-01 16:48:37)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

I know it's not necessarily in Alabama, but we're going to the Mitty at Road Atlanta at the end of April, if any of you guys want to come out!

NizmoZ31: (2012-04-01 21:38:09)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

No, it's for anyone in general that has/had/loves the Z or any other fast, fun car. My cousin is gonna join us (he lives in Auburn) and he's driving a 2005 Hyundai Tibby. The goal is to have a bunch of guys that love cars get together and just hangout and do what we love to do. Also about the day, are we wanting a weekend meet or like a one day thing? As much as I want this to be like Branson thats a bit much for the first time we're having this, but a weekend meet (Friday-Saterday or Saterday-Sunday) would make it easier. I just dont want everything to be rushed on the count of a cruise, lunch and the track ya know? Just an idea. :P

Don't tell me he drives a silver one with spray bombed black parts? If so, I feel sorry for you being related to him.

Barber is a road course track. I do believe they have a motorsports muesem that we could check out.

turblown: (2012-04-02 03:20:52)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

Maybe we could do something on Friday and then have some optional stuff to do on Saturday for people that wanted to or could spend the night? I'm down for spending the night probably. And I'll tell my friends then. Should be fun!

NizmoZ31: (2012-04-02 15:12:38)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

Sounds good, how about Friday June 22nd and Saterday the 23rd? The overnight idea sounds good to me, I'll stay to. I'll probably drive up the day before and stay the night to avoid the early morning driving all the way there, and to give some time for meh Z to relax [archived image: smile.png] Nissanegg: yea thats the guy… lol. I actually have a picture of your Z on my phone that he sent me and I gotta say… it's purty [archived image: redface.png]uioui

NizmoZ31: (2012-04-02 15:21:47)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

The motorsports museum sounds good also [archived image: smile.png] and I've never been on a road course before so Barber would be a good experience for me I think lol. We should start making this an annual thing once we get a date decided.

NissanEgg: (2012-04-02 15:35:01)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

If you want to run on Barber you might want to sign up for the ZNats at Z1's website. They are having the track day there this year. It's in October. I'll be at the show, not sure about the track day yet.

NizmoZ31: (2012-04-02 15:50:57)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

I'll check it out, thanks man. which track were we going to run on for the people that wanted to?

turblown: (2012-04-02 15:58:50)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

I looked on the Barber website and couldn't find anything about track days. Do they let regular joes on the track? June 22 won't work for me. My wife and my mom's birthday are that weekend, lol. What about June 15-16?

NizmoZ31: (2012-04-02 17:43:30)

Re: Nissan Pow-Wow near Foley, AL

That sounds good to me, so i'll be up there probley around 7-8pm on the 14th and check into my hotel then the 15th and 16th we can have Z party :OO3 My brother just agreed to come up there with me (he drives an 87 FC RX-7 turbo) That will be the set date until someone has told me of a problem so PLEASE speak up if that date will not work for you.

ha ha. as long as it isn't the weekend of June 9 I think we can make it. I may just trailer the Z though.

The plan is June 15-16 (16th is an optional day) no body has posted with a problem so I'm acting on that plan and keeping that date for now. Of course we don't mind [archived image: smile.png] Z more Z merrier :haha

I'll be fixing fuel leaks, again, on my car this week. I just posted a thread. I'm tired of buying freaking gaskets for the upper plenum, lol. On the brighter side, I'm installing my amplifier and subwoofer in the car this weekend as well. I'll be happy to have a full system again. Kimbro Slice: (2012-04-16 05:39:29)

How are you getting all excited over like a 5 man meeting? Lol you must be new here. I used to get excited for EVERYTHING, but then after a while it gets kinda old, especially when you blow your motor up and can't drive the damn thing for like 7 months.

Ask me how I know. :down

turblown: (2012-04-16 13:53:18)

Drove the Z yesterday. She seemed to shift fine in drive, reverse is still out though. I might limp it to Birmingham. I don't know though. Previously, it wasn't shifting into third gear either. Maybe I can catch a ride with some friends that were going to attend the meet.

NizmoZ31: (2012-04-16 17:17:10)

I know it's only a 5 person thing lol, but it is my first one and a guy on here said he was gonna mention it to some Z's from georgia so idk, it's not till June so we got time to grow and I'm still hopefull lol. Mine has a blown head gasket right now so I know how you feel about the not driving it. I would like to have a bigger turn out though and I know that if the word gets out there will be plenty of people coming because you don't see alot (if any Z meets towards this area of the U.S.)

I hope you can come man, It'd be good to meet ya and have a bunch of Z guys there. However if it's only gonna be like 4-5 guys then idk if it's gonna happen cause the bad would outweigh the good. I mean I've gotta drive 3 1/2 hours just to get there…I dunno. god knows I want to though :-?

You just missed ZATTACK 2K12 last weekend up in Nashville. ZCON always tends to make it's way to either Nashville or Atlanta every couple years or so as well. Z Nationals is usually in Atlanta every year, and then there's always Import Alliance/Import Face-Off in Atlanta/Birmingham respectively. ZDAYZ is always held at Deals Gap in North Carolina. Although there's never any Z31-SPECIFIC events that really go on, there's no shortage of generic Z gatherings that are usually happening. Locally there's a North Alabama Nissan group that meets monthly, and there's a few Z31s in the group with myself.

If you REALLY want to open it up, make it for any type of "zetto" or just open it up to anyone with anything. There's just not enough active enthusiasts here on Z31P in the south east to get a real solid turnout. Just my $.02 though.

turblown: (2012-04-16 20:39:39)

Nizmo, if nothing else I'll be riding with my friends. In fact, you can stop by in Montgomery, and we can all ride up together. I'm right off the interstate so we can grab a bite, fuel up, whatever. :-)

Is that Erv guy that's part of ARS still running the "cruise" at Little River Canyon near Fort Payne? I went with the Huntsville and B'ham group in 2010 to LRC and had a blast. Alabama's smaller version of the Tail of the Dragon.

I believe so, they try and do them every month or two I'm pretty sure. Last one I saw any word of though was probably back in November or so. I would poke around on FB, I do remember them making events for them on there.

I will admit it, I just skimmed this real fast while at work. Do you have a meet point and aprox time?

we have the 15th and 16th as the meet days, we do not have an exact meet location yet. open to suggestions.

Probably grab food and gas or whatever else anyone may want/need and all roll in there together friday night, as for the people just staying saterday, i don't know where we'll meet. I need someone with some knowledge of the area to give me a good place. maybe a park or good place to eat or something?

NizmoZ31: (2012-05-10 13:34:34)

All that is left to do to me Z is the ignition timing is a bit off :P fixed tonight.

I'll get everything together tonight or tomorrow and throw it up here for everyone. [archived image: smile.png]

You may want to make this an event on FB as well. It would make communication a bit easier and could open it up to a larger group of owners. Just my $.02.

87zxturbo: (2012-06-04 13:20:38)

Fuel pump wiring took a crap. I am hoping to have the car back together before the meet.... I will definately be towing it if we bring it, just to be on the safe side… I don't trust it on long drives for now…

Neil86t: (2012-06-04 14:40:49)

I have a lot of shit on my plate right now but my Z is running and I might do this. I gotta play it by ear though.

NizmoZ31: (2012-06-09 05:45:45)

It seems like this was a bad time for everyone…I got a new better paying job with more hours, but only pays every other week. I'd have to shat money to come. would it be a better idea if we moved it back a bit?

NissanEgg: (2012-06-09 22:03:50)

Sure, I'm broke right now lol.

Since Neil seems to have shit on his plate, maybe he'll pay you to take a dump on his dinner table.

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

That would be great for me. I'm having random stalls now which I think is the transmission control unit (I've changed MAFs already) and probably just will have to hunker down and do a tranny swap. :-?

Kimbro Slice: (2012-06-11 21:40:52)

Yeah, we can move it on back. Saying as how I haven't even touched the car in a week and still need to get parts in, PLUS I'm broke.

It's looking more like I won't fuck with the trans swap until I get the car running right. Oh well.

NizmoZ31: (2012-06-12 00:22:40)

So what would be a good date to push it to?

NissanEgg: (2012-06-12 03:34:49)

I can't do anything the first week of July as I will be in Panama City Beach with the wife and her family.

Mid-July or later?

NizmoZ31: (2012-06-13 05:17:42)

Second weekend in August?

87zxturbo: (2012-06-13 14:43:02)

Thats good to hear. I wouldn't be able to make it this weekend… to many things on my plate.

August is good for me so far.

Kimbro Slice: (2012-06-22 17:31:39)

If we move it into August I'll be even closer to B-ham than I am now, and me and Justin could roll up there from Auburn together.

August is looking to be good so far, I'll just need to watch it and see if it'll conflict with any of my classes.

SteveR111: (2012-06-22 18:43:10)

My poor 87na has been sitting for 6 years, rolled it into the garage to start working on it a week ago. I may have it running by August, but I'm slow and broke so who knows.

BTW, anyone know of a place to take 6 year old skunky gasoline? I found a place out in Moody, but I was hoping for something closer to me (Pelham.)

Neil86t: (2012-06-22 19:25:38)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

Did you ask your back yard?

turblown: (2012-06-22 19:52:19)

I went to the junkyard this week and bought all the stuff needed for the 5-speed swap on my 85T! That'll be fun! Hopefully I can limp the automatic to my friend's enclosed shop by the end of the month and start on the swap mid-July. [archived image: smile.png]

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

A big pile of limbs that need to be burned sounds like a good place for that gas!

SteveR111: (2012-06-23 03:04:17)

Heh, the tank is about 3/4 full, 15 gallons would make a nice fireball. And now I'm thinking about how nice the lot across the street would look without that ugly house on it. :twisted:

turblown: (2012-06-23 13:59:17)

And to the other train of thought on this page: yea, mid-August sounds great to me. I should have the 5-speed in by mid-July! 8)

Kimbro Slice: (2012-06-26 07:35:23)

At the rate I'm not working on it, I'll be damn surprised if it runs in mid-July.

Only time will tell.

tnokes9: (2012-07-27 11:43:12)

This thing still alive or has it fallen by the way side?

NissanEgg: (2012-07-27 12:34:57)

Prob fell apart.

turblown: (2012-07-27 21:36:32)

We decided to move it to sometime in August. Though nothing beyond that materialized. A few of us (me included) have had some problems with the Zs. Big surprise I know. :nanan?re

NizmoZ31: (2012-08-17 02:24:22)

I ended up in the hospital for a bit, sorry I've been gone so long

turblown: (2012-10-01 23:24:23)

Everyone in this thread, go hid up the Alabama G/Z club's website. There's usually some monthly meetings in Bham or Auburn! :-)

Kimbro Slice: (2012-10-04 13:58:43)

I think I've been on there for like longer than a year, I just never post or get on or anything…

Kimbro Slice: (2012-10-05 09:08:40)

I'm sure once my car stays running for longer than a week I'll be hella-motivated to post on ALL OF THE FORUMS.

Anyone got a 84-86T EFI harness they want to sell me?

turblown: (2012-10-05 13:42:28)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

There's an 86T in the Pull A Part yard here in Montgomery (in pretty decent shape, wasn't picked over too bad when I was there ~10 days ago). You should come try looking!

Hell, it would be a lot easier to obtain if I had a car that ran. lol

…ah. Why not bum a ride? Montgomery's only a little down the road from AU. :-)

Kimbro Slice: (2012-10-15 22:39:42)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

And not show up in my own car? While I could ride with Justin, I would much rather have my car; it's been down for over a year now. It should hopefully be good here in like a week.

Kimbro Slice: (2012-12-05 21:25:56)

So, June 15-16 2013 I'm assuming? :nanan?re

It may be easier to coordinate something through FB.

I'm sure some of the BamaGZ guys would be down too. I'm pretty sure I added you on FB a couple of days ago.

You did. I was like "who is this" till I saw the AE. :nanan?re You need to join Bama GZ!

I've been on BamaGZ for over a year now, I just had used my old handle over there. I got it changed over to this one to keep the uniformity, but I just haven't posted back over there since.

I need to copy my mega huge update from here and put it up over there.

tnokes9: (2012-12-06 13:10:17)

add me, add me to FB too! :nanan?re

Might be able to make the 2013 run!!

You -do- need to update your log over there. I'm the only Z31 that's active.

NissanEgg: (2012-12-06 16:15:26)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

I'm still around. Just don't have much to update on my log as my car is mostly done. Hoping to source some fuel upgrades and Nistune soon.

Oh yeah, I've got a friend who's looking to sell his for $400. It's in his CA S13 but he said he can pull the chip no issue.

D'oh. How could I forget, you? Lol, I guess like you said it's bc your log is mostly finished. Missed seeing you at the parade man!

Kimbro Slice: (2012-12-07 05:56:13)

I figure I'll update my thread over there, even though there's not much to update it with since the thing still doesn't move.

Have we figured out how to change your signature and avatar picture over there yet? I remember everything got jumbled around with the big update but I'm looking now and I'm not sure where to go.

turblown: (2012-12-07 15:58:12)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

Go to "Forum Actions" on the top bar, click on that. Then on the next page, you'll see "Edit Signature" over on the left side. :-)
