inside the 'top hat' on the stock fuel setup; http://www.redz31.com/images/fuel/injectors3.jpg

it seems as though I still have some fuel hose inside it, preventing it from coming off. What should I do?

not a bad idea. I ended up using mapp gas to burn up the last bit of hose. It was easy with pliers from there.

it seems like there should be some sort of tool so you can get the intectors off the hoses. are they press fit.

^Yep. But always get them in pairs. One alone can be a bad thing.
