{{ForumImport |op_user=mcx |op_date=2016-10-02 00:07:49 |post_count=6 |archive_url=/Z31performance_archive/forum/z31-repairs-forums/driveline/532587-overhauling-cv-axle-non-turbo.html }} '''mcx:''' (2016-10-02 00:07:49) I disassembled the rear drivers n/a cv axle because the boot split and grease was everyplace…i removed the c clip and slid the three roller bearing off the shaft…i didn't realize the shaft and bearing were supposed to be "marked" with paint to to reassembly in the same positioning? I suppose it matters so they don't bind.. anyone have a pix of a complete cv without the boots? is the inner bearing offset compared to the outer bearing? Thx,Mike ---- '''88sinZ:''' (2016-10-03 02:32:10) just to clarify, you disassembled one side of the driver side shaft? If so just put it back together, it will be fine. ---- '''frostvectron:''' (2016-10-04 21:11:27) If I recall correctly, the inner and outer bearing ("tripods") should be offset from one another. ---- '''mcx:''' (2016-10-06 15:26:11) Thanks for the replies…I ended up aligning both tri-pod bearings in the same position …i wiggled/contorted them around and it didn't bind on the work bench so installed them that way....took it for a drive and it was fine. ---- '''daniel_pearce:''' (2016-10-08 17:58:05) Where did you get the new boot from? ---- '''maxBirdy:''' (2016-11-28 22:56:38) if you didnt put it together exactly as it came apart, you now unbalanced it and it will shake the rear end.
