Procedure

• Start the engine and let it idle.
• Remove the floor mat from the hatch area (where the toolkit is located).
• Disconnect the blue wiring harness; this will cut off the fuel pump (the car will stall).
• Try to start the car a few times to remove any remaining fuel pressure.
• Turn off the car.
• The fuel filter is located on the passenger side of the engine.
• Loosen the fuel hose clamps (2) and the filter retaining clamp screw.
• Make sure you note the flow direction of the old filter before removing it (fuel goes in the bottom and out the top).
• Wrap a rag around the filter to absorb any remaining fuel.
• Hold the filter with one hand and remove the hoses starting with the top hose with the other.
• To remove the filter, pull it out of the retaining clamp.
• Insert the new filter making sure to note the proper flow direction (Out should be up).
