My AE wheels have certainly seen better days and I wanted to really get them cleaned up, was curious to what wheel cleaning products or kits anyone on here would suggest. I tried soap and water with a scrubbing sponge, but that did nothing.

Is it just grime or is your clear coat worn and peeling -- then you need to refinish.
For maintenance wash I use diluted P21s
For heavy dirt I go staight to the sonex -- I would use this, agitate with some brushes and a pressure washer
Occasionally use ironX depending if its heavier brake dust
I agitate the small spaces with a horse hair or boars hair detail brush
Wheel woolies for mesh
For the inner barrel I use the long narrow wheel brushes
Scrub the tire with stiff bristle brush
I seal with Chemical Guys wheel guard
I dress the tires with Chemical Guys VRP

I echo Adam's recommendations .. I also use Windex wipes for quick cleaning at shows.
Edit: I also wear gloves (nitrile) when cleaning wheels and/or dressing the tires.

I can vouch for Sonax stuff. Their Polymer Net Shield makes my 28 year old red paint shine good.
