Whaddup ya'll,

It's almost time to find a turbo for my VG34ET project. I'm well versed and experienced with Turbos in general but not as much as some here.

My goal is 700HP, what would you buy and from where if you where willing to spend the bucks?? [archived image: biggrin.png]

G-E: (2007-02-13 21:00:28)

what about two?

Hey G-E, good to rad yaz. I'm not worried about lag with 3.4L, it'll be minimal.

The engine I build for my 240Z will be a twin turbo 2JZ.

I'm talking crank HP too…

87-85turbo: (2007-02-13 21:24:50)

atpturbo.com and id get the gt40z turbo

StreetFighter: (2007-02-13 21:44:56)

Precision turbo 74mm

good for 900whp.

For a street car, a T67 DBB will make 700whp at 30+psi if you have the heads to flow it.

If you don't use a sweet variable geometry turbo with a ball bearing center section, then you arent spending enough money getting a really neat turbo.

Shouldn't you be drinking or drawing something that will never be used?

Definately this one. It's what I'm looking at, only I can't afford the mad tyte BB. [archived image: frown.png]

The man's got a point. With an unlimited budget I'd turn my checkbook toward the variable vane idea. It seams to be the future of turbochargers, but it wouldn't be much fun trying to make it work. If Porsche can do it, why not? Can you even buy a variable vane turbo that is anything near correctly sized for these engines?

But in all reality it's a hopeless endeavor unless you have a Ferrari-sized budget.

2+2turbo: (2007-02-14 02:08:40)

garrett gt4088r with a 1.06 a/r turbine housing = about 2000.00

or that TO4z with a 1.00 a/r =around 1600.00

precision turbo? i don't know the price…

turbonetics GT-k 850.... price???

arkansasturbo: (2007-02-14 03:56:10)

At my jobsite I have to drive International school buses, and these are equipped with Variable Geometry turbos. Lots of boost all across the tach.

Money growing on trees? VG turbo in my car!

Jason84NA2T: (2007-02-14 03:58:55)

The new T04Z would be a fairly good choice for that kind of power goal.

^^^ I agree with this

if money werent an issue, I'd get a huge T5 size variable geometry turbo and figure out which wires do what.

You'll have no lag my friend! I almost bought one once but I had no idea of it's flow ratings and had no idea how to use it and hook it up. It was brand new and went for a few hundered on ebay.

Other than that, get an HX50. It has a T5 flange and is good for 1000HP.

Aren't you the same dude that was making the fast and the furious refferences to me some months ago? I dunno what your problem is but I honestly don't give a fuk.

The new turbonetics turbos sound badass but they still have to be preordered.

A T04Z is a 67dbb, but has a ported compressor housing, so it looks cool and makes a neat sound, but causes lag. Any greddy turbo is a ripoff.

a gt4088r is a bit too much turbo if you only want 700hp. Honestly, I think a T71H from precision turbos would do exactly what you want. If you can rev to or above 7500, get the .81 AR hot side. If you rev lower than that, get the .68 AR. Get the ball bearing option if you can afford it. It's a bit pricey at $1700 with the BB option.

Remember that a T67 DBB is $1275, and it WILL make big power.

If you're in the market for a really expensive turbo…

GT55-91. It is a T6 frame turbo, and the ball bearing version will run you right around $5000. Good for 2000+hp. Expect to spool at around 7000rpm.

Call http://www.boostlogic.com for a decent price on precision turbos.

davisranso: (2007-02-14 23:40:59)

How about a 14b. I hear those are the shiznit…flow like crazy.

SATAN: (2007-02-15 00:02:32)

I wouldnt run a turbo that is on the very edge of being able to make 700hp. I would run a turbo that flows 700hp comfortably with being capable of flowing about 100hp further. This way you are not running your turbo on the ragged edge whenever you hit full boost, Thus resulting in less stress on the turbo which is a good thing on a street car.

I agree 100%… that's why I suggested a T71, but the 67 is the best bang for the buck as far as brand new aftermarket turbos.

I still think the 67 is the best way to go. A T04Z is the same thing, but you have to pay $450 for the greddy logo.

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

umm i was referring to this one ,and its not an hks turbo (hks is the one who makes the TO4z not greddy AFAIK )

You are right, HKS makes the T04Z… but whatever T04Z you get has that ported compressor housing on it. Those holes they drill in it are bad for performance. It sounds fukin sweet, but it causes lag.

The inducer is what is going to determine max flow from the compressor, and that one has a 66.7mm inducer, exactly what a T67 has. The wheels are exactly the same as a T67, the only difference is the compressor housing and the price.

BTW, you can get a T67 with a ported compressor housing for $100 more.

Also, you have to be careful when buying turbos. A Greddy T78 is not an 78mm inducer… it is a TD07 turbine housing with a TD08 compressor housing. It's actually around a 70-74mm turbo I believe.
