As the title says, my 84 parts car is turbo and 5 speed. The car I'm restoring is an 86 turbo auto, can I put the 5 speed ECU in the auto car and will it be plug and play? I'm doing a manual swap otherwise I wouldn't bother lol. They are both federal if that info is needed, I know the 88-89 have different injector programs. I just don't want to swap them and cause a major issue.

84-85 ECU has cold start issues

Yes, you can.
You can run an auto ECU in a manual car, just make sure you set the timing for the ECU being an auto.
Also, 84t and 86t have different O2 sensors.

But like Tim says, 84-85 are the worst years for ECUs.

I've read the tuning required to keep the auto trans ECU, I just wanted to drop in an ECU and not have to worry, the 60MM throttle body i got has a screw port for idling. So i was just going to have that there for idle. So ideally I should get an 86/87, Turbo, Federal, 5 spd ECU and that would be perfect for my car?

Yes and pick the o2 sensor then wire it in if necessary to match the ecu you pick.
