THEBEAST: (2012-01-28 16:49:59)

anyone using one on their Z31? they have a port for a consult cable? does that mean the m30 ecu would be a better choice for tuning?

Careless: (2012-01-28 17:59:14)

yes. yes. and yes.

search. there's a sticky.

THEBEAST: (2012-01-30 17:31:54)

been searchin, cant find anything

3.0t: (2012-04-10 07:53:48)

but they have a different connecter ? its 1 plug not 3

THEBEAST: (2012-04-10 14:52:38)

the m30 ecu is one plug. its cheaper to have the 88t ecu modified for nistune anyway, thats why i was asking. im all about least money spent and time invested. i thought that maybe with the m30 ecu since it already had the data port that it would be easier/cheaper to go that route, but it only has one plug and it costs 20 bucks more to have it modified with nistune stuff. i might be wrong about some/all of this? its just what i have come to from readin about it.

Careless: (2012-04-10 15:15:21)

best thing to do for an M30 ecu is to cut a broken Z31 ecu into pieces and take the connectors. then make a patch harness that goes from the Z31 ecu plugs to the M30 pigtail harness. then you can plug it right in to your Z31 harness and if it takes a crap, you can put a Z31 ECU back in.

Windzer: (2012-04-10 15:19:56)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

Lots of bonuses for M30 ecu, sequential injector firing (under3k rpms), ability to use auto TPS for better throttle control, consult port (kind of negated by nistune). THere are more, just a quick thing from memory when I was getting mine to set up.

THEBEAST: (2012-04-10 15:26:04)

cool, i just havent seen alot about the m30 ecu. so what would be better to use with nistune on a boosted Z31? m30 or 88T ecu?

Rustspecs13: (2012-04-10 19:18:14)

My nistune setup works just fine with my 88 NA ecu in a 88…yeah its a mutt. VG33ET…

I just plug my usb cable in a new usb port thats installed with nistune. No need for a second consult cable…

M30 offers advantages.

THEBEAST: (2012-04-11 17:52:03)

know anyone using a m30 ecu in their Z31

shromy: (2012-04-11 18:22:54)

A few. They have been used for years.

i have had no luck finding it either.

cjlewisz31: (2012-04-14 18:38:04)

the only thing i can think of is either jason deleted it when the site was down for some time or its under some random name that you wouldnt have guessed cuz iv done a search and looked through all the stickies i could find.

I did too, nothing… I was going to ask what years, was planning to go to the junkyard next week, who knows I may see one

cjlewisz31: (2012-04-15 09:11:06)

90-93 i belive are the years the M30 was made. make sure you give yourself atleast 6" of wire when you cut the harness.

zamg63: (2012-05-01 22:04:10)

found 2 M30s at the junk yard today, is there any market for these ECUs in here? i could easilty pick them up today/tomorrow.

nismopu: (2012-05-01 22:37:15)

Pull the harness, if it is in good shape. Sell it on club f31.

G-E: (2012-05-01 22:37:47)

do it, the more people swap the better documented it will be!

These are the threads. Remember, our forum doesn't search 3 letter words very well. Best to use google site search for such topics:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10646

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=22569

http://z31performance.com/forum/viewtop … &sk=t&sd=a

Unfortunately, much of the information was lost when those old douche bags got pissed and left the forum.

G-E: (2012-05-02 06:15:48)

what did happen to bernardd ?

Did you get any word on that other Nissan ECU Solution regarding the M30? Whatthefuckwasitcalledagain?

ShamWow: (2012-05-02 16:43:23)

According to my email, development for 6cylinder 16bit ECU is end of summer. Nismotronics.

There is a thread about it in the ECU section.

Sounds like I need to shoot them an email as well to get on the test bed program!

cjlewisz31: (2012-05-04 17:58:54)

hey guys im sure this has been answered before but is the rev limiter the same as ours? injector cut or spark cut?

Crusherbait: (2012-05-07 22:41:20)

nice find!!!

cjlewisz31: (2012-05-07 23:59:28)

now what about a pin out for a z32?

nismo85z: (2012-05-11 20:02:01)

Ssooooo, what we're saying here is that the ecu from an infinity m30, 90-93. Will work on a Z31, but they have to be bridged???..... I have an 88t, pretty much the key to tuning the Z31, would it be easier to send it off to nistune? Or going the m30 route?

Windzer: (2012-05-11 21:03:49)

M30 is considered superior in terms of technology and features, requires some additional work to get it to work.

cjlewisz31: (2012-05-11 21:08:45)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

the m30 ecu saves you on fuel bellow 3k rpms. i cant think of any other resone why you would if youre planning on going the nistune route. but im no expert on this so if anyone else wants to add their 2¢ please do so =)

proper throttle enrichment instead of on/off?

cjlewisz31: (2012-05-12 00:08:15)

oh ya the tps is diff. does anyone know if the rev limiter is fuel cut or spark cut?

nismopu: (2012-05-12 03:42:43)

Why not get nistune for the m30 and have both?

G-E: (2012-05-12 03:48:28)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

exactly!

Crusherbait: (2012-05-12 23:04:39)

IIRC, another benefit for the M30 ECU is that you have 6 injector drivers vs. 2 with the Z31 ECU. It’s believed that when switching to larger injectors it becomes hard on the 2 drivers and can possibly burn them out rendering your ECU broken and not worth fixing.

How big is too big? Feedback I received from a few members is somewhere north of 800cc. I am running 850cc FIC’s and had no problem last summer. However, I just recently went for the N62 MAS upgrade and the Z31 ECU is dead. It got hot and died. I have no idea as to what the cause may have been. Luckily I was at the junkyard and ran across a M30 and snagged the ECU and 12” of wiring loom a couple of years ago.

Hopefully when I’m finished I’ll have an accurate wiring diagram that’ll make the conversion a little easier for others if they’re interested.

z31t: (2012-05-13 01:33:32)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

I ran 1680cc injectors with e85 for a while with no problems.

G-E: (2012-05-13 02:08:35)

I don't understand how orifice size makes a difference to the injector coil.. you still move something with next to no mass against fuel pressure that isn't holding it shut

Crusherbait: (2012-05-13 02:43:10)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

That's awesome man!! I'm just trying to get through this swap and help the next guy out. There were some questions here and there and on nistune that lead to some PM’s about resolution and how low large injectors could go with latency or dead time and not fry the drivers.

Sorry that I didn’t state the whp goal, 450whp with E-85 and Nistune in a Z31 with a VG30.

THEBEAST: (2012-08-01 01:09:30)

Would a 88t ecu be able to use m30 injectors? Or would i need to use resistors? Any differences between 88t injectors and m30 injectors? Im sore they are smaller

cjlewisz31: (2012-08-01 01:46:14)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

The m30 injectors are the same as the na z31 @160ish cc's. As for impidence i believe, but not sure, they are the same.

No NA Z31 ever had 160cc injectors.....they are 180cc.....hell, even 280Zs are 180cc. M30s are high imp. 180cc injectors, just like 88-89 Z31s.

cjlewisz31: (2012-08-01 05:35:21)

Ok i wasnt really sure on the cc's but i figured they were the same for both cars refering to the years.

cjlewisz31: (2012-08-06 05:36:10)

So dose any one know what the rev limiter is based on? Is it like the z31 where it cuts the injectors or is it an ignition cut?

cjlewisz31: (2012-08-11 17:28:56)

Anyone know what the rev limit is set to on these ecu? Im only asking because ive seen people say its anywhere from 5500-6500 rpms so i wana get that part cleared up before i go out and get one.

Careless: (2012-08-11 20:14:00)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

without nistune, what is the point of the M30 ecu?

with nistune, your rev limit is as high as you want it to be.

cjlewisz31: (2012-08-11 21:12:58)

I understand that with nistune i can do what i want but that wasnt my question. I want to know what the oe rev limit is set at.
