C.Gesler: (2014-10-04 18:19:56)

Hello all

does anyone know if the poly transmission harmonic bar bushings are available

reddzx: (2014-10-04 18:32:24)

Not anymore

C.Gesler: (2014-10-04 18:43:38)

What about the aluminum x-member

or do I have to go oem

reddzx: (2014-10-04 19:46:13)

Yes, you can buy poly crossmember bushings. Gary Molitor used to make the trans bushings but stop a while back.

les_joey_paul: (2014-10-04 21:58:48)

I think hardwood made some. Can maybe convince him to make a batch of bushings. I know there is interest.

harwood909: (2014-10-05 22:26:51)

I really should get on this now. haha I will try to get something going on monday. Material is what I need to look into. I've made them for my car and I can make them for you guys too.

This. Yes please. Let us know if you need a deposit or something to buy the material?

harwood909: (2014-10-05 22:42:56)

I will start a thread when I find the best way to make them. Keep your eyes peeled!

reddzx: (2014-10-05 22:56:45)

These are the dumbbell bushings correct?

z-flash: (2014-10-06 00:02:30)

Yes, reddzx, as seen here from harwood909's post..... [archived image: Transbushing2_zps89e24cdc.jpg]

G-E: (2014-10-06 00:54:30)

I used the early style tension rod bushings from the prothan kit, threw them on a lathe after freezing them overnight… drilling was the hard part

C.Gesler: (2014-10-06 11:42:31)

Harwood if you need anything to get this going please let me know

And thank you

C.Gesler: (2014-10-16 14:26:02)

Harwood any luck on figuring out thies bushings

harwood909: (2014-10-17 03:30:36)

Waiting for the quote from the salesmen at work, once I have that I can see if people are still interested. I chose to have them poured instead of machined so production will take a bit longer and price will be slightly higher than if I were to turn them on my own. The finished product will be much nicer and will have a similar appearance to pieces that come in Prothane kits.

reddzx: (2014-10-17 03:46:35)

I'm down for one maybe two sets depending on price

les_joey_paul: (2014-10-17 04:46:40)

Sign me up buddy.

joshers21: (2014-10-17 15:48:36)

I'll take a set!

Reds89: (2014-10-18 13:42:03)

Jumpin in for a set to keep watch!

Augustus Maximus: (2014-10-18 23:26:02)

Those bushings and window triangles are a sure shot.

harwood909: (2014-10-29 00:29:15)

Can anyone measure the O.D. of the steel collar that the bolt runs through? If anyone has it laying around that would be great. Otherwise I'll get the car up on stand and pull the mount myself to measure. I received a quote today and I just need to double check this dimension before I put an order through. Thank you

Augustus Maximus: (2014-10-30 19:03:27)

16.3mm

G-E: (2014-10-30 20:16:00)

It's not critical, there's plenty of bushing even if it was 3/4" tubing, as long as the ID is a fairly loose 10.5-11mm

C.Gesler: (2014-11-19 16:07:23)

Any new news harwood

Parker: (2014-11-19 18:44:26)

I'm in for a set if they're still being produced.

Augustus Maximus: (2014-11-19 20:32:20)

The bolt location in the pictured bushings is wrong. I have a set in great condition if you need a reference.

Is this referring to my photo?

As for progress of the bushings… Winter has struck early and very hard here in Wisconsin and I simply ran out of time to remake a sample bushing so I could confirm the fitment in the garage. The drawing I had of the original bushings I made was thrown away as I didn't expect to make them every again. Really the only thing I need is to confirm, for myself, that the through hole is the right diameter before I put an order in. This is important so the original steel sleeve can be reused.

1artworkz: (2014-11-19 23:55:49)

I have the molds and can make 4 sets at a time for anyone desiring a set of 4 bushings in the correct hardness, red. $40.00 delivered. Add $10 for Canadian shipping. Email me at gary.molitor@gmail.com

This spring I will be doing a production run of front and rear spring poly plus steering rack bushings.

reddzx: (2014-11-20 01:47:08)

I'll take a set in red, PM me with payment details please

G-E: (2014-11-20 08:44:57)

Gary to the rescue hehe

les_joey_paul: (2014-11-20 13:02:02)

I will email too. So we get 4 of those trans bushings but it only requires 2, that's what he's saying?

reddzx: (2014-11-20 13:35:54)

1 set equals four bushing, each side has two pieces

les_joey_paul: (2014-11-20 13:44:19)

Oh I see. Ok. Thank you for clearing that up.

This is what they look like. They are the same ones that Jason use to sell. NOTE: the offset.

You have to email me at gary.molitor@gmail.com to get on the production list.

Augustus Maximus: (2014-11-29 21:35:42)

Smooth transaction thus far.

1artworkz: (2014-11-30 00:21:18)

I had enough raw material to make extra sets for those that still may want them.

Spring 2015 will be the next time they will be available if there is the demand.

reddzx: (2014-11-30 00:51:40)

When will you be doing the steering rack and spring seat bushings?

Tedisky: (2014-11-30 03:51:30)

I'm interested in a set.

Gary, you still happen to have a set available from the extra sets you made? Just need one set. Paypal ready so once you confirm you do, I will send it over tomorrow or even yet tonight if I see that you do.

Thanks for asking. Well, the good news is I have renewed my interest to working on it. I did nothing this past year. I have all the repainted parts hanging and covered in my shop just waiting to be re-installed. The reason I haven't put it back together is that every time I would think about it I would be overwhelmed by crushing anxiety. Maybe I should have posted my problem to see if others have had this same experience. I was hopping I'd just get over it which seems to be the case. Making the poly bushings has helped. I'm back to daily checking the messages here and catching up on what I've missed over the past year. I just bought a gutted plenum plate from Acadiana SC and looking forward to milling it out. This winter I will be putting the engine back together. This fall I finished repainting the engine bay. Actually I re-repainted it as I didn't like the way I turned out from when I did it last year. This time I applied a clear coat. Now it sparkles. So I'm feeling positve about working on it the and looking forward to spring when I can start puting parts back on her. I'll post some pictures when I have some thing worth showing.

Reds89: (2014-12-03 18:41:30)

Received mine last week, thank you Gary. One simple question, do these require the bushing grease like Prothane control arm bushings do?

1artworkz: (2014-12-03 21:23:46)

{{#if:Reds89|Reds89 wrote:|Quote:}}

Since there is no movement of the bushing or part within it that moves no grease should be required. There is a thin coating of silicone mold release that is on the surface at the time of manufacture. It helps a bit with installation. If the inside surface is bare metal then a thin application of silicone grease to the metal surface the bushings are inserted into will help reduce rusting.

C.Gesler: (2014-12-04 15:21:01)

Recieved my set yesterday. Thank you Gary.

hopfully installing today

Hey whats up on the bushings? Are they available again?

jaqattack02: (2015-04-09 00:59:50)

Not likely. As far as i know Gary retired from making the poly parts.

Not true at this time. I will be doing a poly run at the end of this month if there is enough interest. Watch for my post.
