The company that makes this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/XTD-PRO-LITE…230b9d&vxp=mtr

Might be making an inexpensive flywheel for the z31! I emailed them after noticing they offer a lightened flywheel for just about every other Nissan product except ours. They offer several clutches, but no flywheel. I made a case, and directed them to this website so they could see how dedicated z31 owners are to our cars, and they sent me an email back saying they may try to develop one this fall! I'm sure plenty of people will say bad things about this company, and talk about how much better all the other flywheels are. I'd even agree with them in some ways. For people who know what's up, and want a top-notch product, ASCO flywheels and Fidanza flywheels are still going to be around. But for someone who wants to spend less than $400 on a flywheel, it would be nice to have an alternative. I say any business that wants to invest in these cars is welcome!

Opinions? I'm kinda excited, as long as they aren't yanking my chain!

Crap. I posted this in the wrong section. Can a MOD move it to "driveline" for me? It's late, I'm tired. Sorry.

South Bend* not ASCO.

MADMIKE: (2013-04-22 13:26:10)

He probably meant AASCO.

Tomakze: (2013-04-22 18:14:51)

Huh, no, I meant ASCO. I was mistaken, I could have sworn they made a flywheel for our cars. Now I'm not sure what I was thinking of. Anyway, what do you guys think about this company making them? Good, bad, don't care? I'm just curious.

I have a southbend Cro-moly unit, it is sex.

Are they still making that? I couldn't find the southbend flywheel when I looked. Their website is horrible to navigate. The only reference I found for the z31 and flywheels was listed as a Fidanza aluminum flywheel.

I bought a Jim Wolf Technologies 11lb flywheel used on ebay. I'm excited to see what a difference it makes! I've never driven a car with a lightened flywheel before.

the good thing about the z31 is that the lightweight flywheel is easy to drive because its a relatively big motor and makes decent torque. driving with the 11lb flywheel only makes downshifting slightly more finnicky, but once you get used to it it's easy.

it makes the car rev to the fknn mooooooooon, BRAH!

it will make the car feel like a whole new animal. just get a good clutch to go wiv it..

I have a feeling there's 1-2 big name manufacturers making all the cromoly flywheels for everyone, I know my comp clutch unit is identical to a british one, neither has an actual manufactured stamping/engraving saying a brand, and I've seen others that are sticker branded also

The rb25 fly is pretty much the same as the 87T's except the bolt pattern for the crank, not really challenging program change for their cnc

I can't wait! You are only getting me more excited about it. The really crazy part is I will be going from an automatic, to a manual with this flywheel, so I expect the car will feel COMPLETELY different, lol! It should really wake it up. God I hate that damn slush box. The autos in these cars really suck. I know it's robbing a lot of power, I can actually feel it. Sometimes, it just works right, and launches like hell. Most of the time it feels sluggish and lazy.

I will let the company know about that! Thank you. I bet that will save them time.

I would be interested in this!

Especially if there was a flywheel/clutch kit combo (;
