My '84 just started with this issue. The dome and foot light stays on. The door lights work fine(turn on and off as they sould). The funny thing is the foot lights work in reverse. When the doors are closed the foot lights dim on and stay on when you open the door the lights turn off. Has anyone ever experience this? What do I need to check? Thanks

Any more suggestions. I changed the driver door switch and I'm having the same issue. What controls the hatch switch? Is it that sensor that go around the key lock mechanism or something else? I believe it has something to do with the hatch?

What about the dome lights with itself? There's an ON / DOOR / OFF settings .. perhaps hit inadvertently or the switch contacts are dirty?

I keep the dome light "OFF" for the same reason. I'm trying to figure out what control the interior lights other than the door switches. I changed both door switches and the problem persist. I'm thinking there's something in the hatch.
