Hey everyone! I've gotten a few messages concerning the custom badges that I've been working on for quite a while....well, I just finished the master molds for my refined design, and here is the base, awaiting coloring:

[archived image: IMG_4412_zps3cd328cf.jpg]

Some features of this particular badge:

UV resistant plastic

Gunmetal border

Refined border angles

Due to the extra color in the base, the price for this badge is increased to $60. The black base will still be available for $50.

Also on the way, weighted shift knobs:

Stay posted for more details....

jaqattack02: (2013-03-20 02:28:24)

Wow, seeing it in a hand, that thing is way bigger than it looked in other pictures, that or you have a tiny hand.

Switchback Motions: (2013-03-20 02:28:41)

Hell I'd rock one just like that. Awesome work!

lecarde: (2013-03-20 02:52:58)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}
It has the same (approximate) diameter as the stock Z31 badge - for this one, 80 mm (3.1 in).

Urstin: (2013-03-20 03:43:34)

Nice! These will fit on the front-bumper cover (though some vary), correct?

badboyz31: (2013-03-20 03:49:06)

inqui-Z-tor: (2013-03-20 04:07:13)

Chivo_theZ_Pharaoh: (2013-03-20 04:18:48)

lecarde: (2013-03-21 01:58:46)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

Yep, it will fit in the same place as the stock round badge on the front.

inqui-Z-tor: (2013-03-21 02:58:51)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

Good choice .. basic colors for the original z31 nose badge.

As previously stated through PM: WANT. Dollaz ready. GIMME.

PrideZ31: (2013-03-21 04:08:41)

Sweet work dude!

I'll definitely consider picking one up.

nater86zx: (2013-03-25 12:58:09)

Nice progress. As I said twice before, I WILL buy one.

Axel kain: (2013-03-26 00:45:31)

that badge is a dream! would love to snag one or two!

ZEricMZ: (2013-03-26 00:54:10)

I would definitely purchase a badge and a shift knob =]

JRawz300: (2013-03-26 01:00:33)

Diggin the badge…I'm down to buy one for sure!

datsunzcar84: (2013-03-26 01:11:37)

damn looks good !

floridaZ: (2013-03-26 01:16:19)

Do want. Yessir.

z car go: (2013-04-04 18:09:08)

No new news yet?! [archived image: smile.png]

Jared86NA: (2013-04-04 18:22:44)

Badge looks great! I would buy a badge and shift knob.

lecarde: (2013-04-14 17:37:38)

Hey everyone, these are still in the pipeline....I'm saving up money to buy some equipment to make the casting process a bit easier.

lone_importzk: (2013-04-17 13:03:58)

Glad I found this as I was looking for a new nose badge just now. I'll hold off and wait for one of these!

Tomakze: (2013-04-17 17:50:52)

Wow, beautiful! Other than having much higher priorities, I want one! I have to watch this thread so I can see the final product. I need a new nose badge anyway…

z car go: (2013-06-23 22:28:08)

Just bringing attention back to this as I don't want it to disappear.

nater86zx: (2013-06-24 00:15:15)

Me either. Progress report?

Axel kain: (2013-06-24 03:52:57)

maybe pre-orders to help with equipment sourcing?

z car go: (2013-06-24 13:44:39)

I definitely want to get one, but I don't think I'm going to Paypal money to someone who 1. doesn't even have the equipment to make these yet, and 2. has only made eight total posts. Not doubting dudeman's ability or integrity, but plenty of people say they're going to do something and it fizzles out.

inqui-Z-tor: (2013-06-24 14:06:37)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

As far as I know .. offers to assist in equipment sourcing have already been offered and respectfully declined.

He'll get to it .. when he gets to it. It's not like it's a "performance item" … LOL!

lecarde: (2013-06-24 15:02:08)

Hey guys, I've gotten all the equipment I needed and am now starting the production run. If it'll put everyone's mind at ease, some of the guys in Colorado can be the first to buy, and they can attest to the quality of the product. I'm based out of Aurora, CO.

z car go: (2013-06-24 16:07:40)

Awesome! That's great news!

Tomakze: (2013-06-24 19:40:11)

Aurora, huh! I may have to come check them out at some point. [archived image: wink.png]

1986z: (2013-07-07 03:37:36)

Are these still for sale ?

inqui-Z-tor: (2013-07-07 03:47:37)

{{#if:| wrote:|Quote:}}

Yes .. Short answer.

He is developing the badge "part time" … In between his work.

MagicZ31: (2013-07-08 15:58:52)

This badge gonna look so clean when it's ready!

MagicZ31: (2013-07-30 20:53:31)

Tick tock…waiting patiently lol

inqui-Z-tor: (2013-07-30 21:12:15)

LOL .. lecarde hasn't forgotten .. he's just busy …

z car go: (2013-12-27 17:09:22)

Let's revive this thang!

nater86zx: (2013-12-31 13:57:31)

Yes, Please. I'm still waiting! Lets get a batch ready for spring!

z car go: (2014-02-15 02:50:10)

Bumpity bump bump.

THEBEAST: (2014-02-19 02:02:18)

this is my first time to see this. COUNT ME IN.

inqui-Z-tor: (2014-02-19 15:23:34)

lecarde hasn't been in since … last year? Any info I had was lost in the downgrade "upgrade" effort … he may/maynot be having challenges with re-gaining access.

Perhaps the Colorado folks know more?

nater86zx: (2014-02-19 21:32:00)

Let's hope that all is not lost. He was making great progress, I really hope they get finished.

z car go: (2014-02-26 21:14:01)

Does anybody know his real name? Find him on Facebook? SOMETHING?! [archived image: smile.png]

frostvectron: (2014-02-26 22:48:19)

I could probably laser cut these out of acrylic if you dudes are willing to paint them yourselves…

reddzx: (2014-02-27 01:57:47)

Do it

frostvectron: (2014-02-27 02:50:50)

Anyone have dimensions/drawings/hi-res pics/scan of the badge ?

z car go: (2014-02-27 17:08:36)

I'm sure they can be gotten from somebody that has them *cough cough* Quiz. I've asked him about it before, and I think he said he had it in storage somewhere. ANY decent option for this product would be greatly appreciated.

z car go: (2014-02-27 19:49:38)

Quiz has responded and will get measurements this weekend!

frostvectron: (2014-02-27 20:53:06)

Cool. If he could throw them in a scanner, that would be even better as I can extract the measurements from there.

inqui-Z-tor: (2014-03-05 16:47:36)

Measurements provided …

frostvectron: (2014-03-06 06:39:43)

I'll just leave this here. [archived image: rolleyes.png]

Filipe: (2014-03-06 06:44:25)

Justin, can you place a light below the acrylic? or will it act as opaque? thinking of some project ideas…

frostvectron: (2014-03-06 06:46:55)

It is pretty transparent. The parts that were rastered on have surface texture which scatters light a bit. Light will pass easily. PM me if you need anything.

biggz31: (2014-03-06 15:37:28)

Its gonna be available?

Filipe: (2014-03-06 17:36:18)

Yeah, figured the rastered parts would scatter the light. Neat; will do.

z car go: (2014-03-06 18:18:22)

Hell yeah man. That is awesome. How easy are they to paint? Are you offering them as blanks or as painted? Can you also do a rubber gasket backing with a stud for mounting?

Z_Karma: (2014-03-06 18:31:55)

3d printer guys use a acetone vapor bath to help smooth and polish plastic parts that are printed,

i'm sure the same would apply to acrylic, making it more transparent.

The original (OEM) badge does come with a gasket (rubber) .. for mounting there are 2 - studs (as opposed to the 1-bolt/stud for the z31 badge) and 3M tape.

The dimensions I provided were w/o the gasket.

biggz31: (2014-03-06 19:28:27)

Ready to buy one : ) how much?

z car go: (2014-03-06 19:43:39)

I'm ready to buy three!

Ponchoz: (2014-03-06 21:19:10)

I'm in

frostvectron: (2014-03-06 21:54:36)

These will be available soon. I don't want to threadjack, so please see my emblem/badge thread here: http://z31performance.com/showthread…052#post350052

I'm still ironing out the settings. I'll post in that thread once they are ready to go. These will be blanks only, so painting and mounting is up to the buyers.

Acrylic is easy to paint on, but some of these details (the stars) are pretty small so you'll need a good set of fine tipped brushes and a steady hand. For mounting, I would suggest just making life easy and using 3M double sided tape.

1sikz: (2014-03-07 15:42:14)

The tape will hold these quite well!

nater86zx: (2014-03-07 16:00:11)

I'm in to buy! Don't worry about thread jacking, I think enough time has passed since we last heard from the OP. I think this falls under eminent domain or something…lol. How long will the badges hold up? I'm just thinking about extreme temperature differences and freeze/thaw cycles we have up here. I see in your other thread you say the temp range is 32-170. I don't drive the Z in winter, but it will still be subject to extremely cold temps during storage. Very common to get well below zero. I suppose I could simply take it off every time I store it (I will be using 3M tape).

Hi, I spoke with the supplier of the material and he told me that below the lower temperature, the material isn't rated for impact strength. So it shouldn't be a problem so long as you don't crash into anything or drop hammers on your car in the winter [archived image: smile.png]

Although it is UV-resistant, I would definitely recommend painting it (for looks and for protection against direct sunlight).

nater86zx: (2014-03-07 20:40:10)

Ok, thanks. Count me in to purchase one.
