Just curious how much this will cost to convert my 1985 na to turbo. I would love to but feel it may be out of my price range. Let me know!

if your patient not bad at all.. TYPICALLY 4-700 dollars.. it all depends.. did mine for around 600 but i was in a hurry.

Thats actually much more affordable than i was expecting.
Can you list in detail what you had done, replaced? Thanks

read up on this....http://www.xenonz31.com/turboswap.html
Do a search for the swap. Quite a few people on here have done that.
I am getting ready to put a n/a in my 87t of course it will have the turbo in it as well.
There is lots of reading to do. and this forum has a wealth of knowledge. I have been on this forum for a while I don't post often But read it almost everyday, and learn something new.

I would budget more like 1k. Theres a plethora of things that could break or need replacing while you're doing the swap.

ya if you budget 1k you wont have any issues at all. some people even sell almost complete NA2T kits on here a lot. or post looking for a kit and see what ya get. i got a used nice t3 stock turbo online from the network of salvage yard dealers for 100 bucks. i thought that was a good deal.

I just want to clarify, when you say a budget of $1000, this is strictly for parts i assume?
jfatica: (2011-03-31 11:50:16)
This assumes you do a majority of the labor yourself. I paid to have injectors cleaned and to have the turbo rebuilt by pros.
If you are not doing the work yourself, then I have no idea how much it will cost.

It could cost quite a bit, but the best thing to do is wait and try to find a good sale on here. I got some pretty good stuff (aftermarket turbo, injectors, etc) for around $1000; and all I needed were a few minor pieces (crossmember, etc) that I already had from my old turbo car.
If you are doing the work yourself its pretty cheap, and it also is NOT overly complex (heck, I was scared to pull my engine; but now its a piece of cake). If you are paying someone to do it; well, sell your NA and buy a turbo car; it would be so much cheaper than to pay someone to turbo an NA.
