I see where I can delete an individual post, but if I start a thread, that I later deem worthless and in need of deletion, why can`t i do that? or am i just missing something

i see alot of threads labled please delete, i think only and administrator can, ask one

You can only delete your own postings. You would be unable to delete this thread since others have replied to it.
