The '''EGR Control Valve''' controls the volume of exhaust gas led into the intake manifold through a vertical movement of a taper valve connected to a diaphragm that receives vacuum in response to the opening of the throttle. The chart below will explain when the EGR valve is opened.

In the Exhaust Gas Recirculation System, some of the exhaust gas is returned to the combustion chamber to lower the flame temperature during combustion. This results in a reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx) density in the exhaust gas.

When the EGR Control Valve is open, some of the exhaust gas is led from the exhaust manifold to the EGR tube. The exhaust gas is then regulated by the EGR valve and introduced into the intake manifold.
