{{ImportedFrom|site=Xenonzcar|title=Z31 Headlamp Down Mod (Sleepy Eyes)|url=https://dev.z31library.com/xenonzcar_archive/z31/headlampdownmod.php.html|archive=https://dev.z31library.com/xenonzcar_archive/z31/headlampdownmod.php.html|fetched=2026-05-15}} == Z31 Headlamp Down Mod (Sleepy Eyes) == One of the coolest visual tricks you can do on the Z31 is keeping the headlights in the down position while your lights are turned on. This subtle modification not only gives the car a cleaner, sleeker front profile at night, but it also accentuates the wedge-shaped lines and classic '80s sports car look. With the headlamp doors closed and the driving lights on, the Z31 takes on a more modern and aggressive appearance that sets it apart from other cars on the road—especially when compared to the usual "pop-up" look. It's a simple change that makes your Z31 look sharper, more mysterious, and truly unique among classic Nissans. [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKbLhXjn8XVfYVdTt1GWbIA MuhKayden] This video uses a relay mod as well (not documented here) but you can see the look of the mod. ==== Process ==== * First, remove the lower driver side dash panel by taking out the 3 screws and disconnecting the vent selector vacuum line and kick panel lamp. - Now look to the right of the steering column and you should see a black connector that's about one inch with two wires. * To enable this mod, just disconnect the connector. This will now keep the headlamp motors from moving the headlights with the low beams being turned on for the first time. * Test by turning on the lights. * Test to be sure the headlights still pop up by pushing the manual button and by turning on the high beams. For all models, the connector is in approximately the same location. Sometimes the connector is hidden by other wires as shown here: https://dev.z31library.com/xenonzcar_archive/z31/images/headlamp_down_mod/location_of_plug_large.jpg The headlights will remain up once the high beams are turned on or the switch is used to raise the headlamps with this version of the mod. The video above uses a relay mod that disables this fully and only allows the pod switch to move the headlamp motors. === Sources Used === * Images by: Louis Miller * Video by: MuhKayden on YouTube [[Category:Imported from Xenonzcar]]
