Car is 1985 NA 5 speed, I was trying to change my transmission fluid but the filler plug wouldn't bulge. Has anyone had this problem and if so how you end up getting it? All ready tried pb blaster and wd40.

Is the square plug type, right?

You may have to torch it to get it loose. Also, make sure you are using the correct socket for the square oil drain plug (prevents from rounding the square hole by using a 1/2" ratchet!).

Assume you meant "budge"… lol…

Mine is having the same problem. Took it to a transmission shop and they were unwilling to put a significant amount of torque because they didn't want to crack the housing. Was told to use heat, just as Alex suggested, but the transmission is on the car, so open flame isn't really advisable. I've got a cheap heat gun from HF that I'm going to try… let us know what you do and how it works out.

You'll need a torch, and just keep the flame away from the undercoating heh… oh and drain the fluid first from the tailshaft, unless you like cooling it from behind, or cooking fluid…

Always remove the fluid fill plug first, that way you aren't stuck after you drain the fluid and have a hard time getting the fill plug out. It can always be filled by removing the shifter plate but that's a pain in the ass. As stated already, clean the plug area and use a propane torch first before you end up rounding out the fill plug socket.

I'm getting a heat gun later today to try, to heat up bolt I'll need to first clean the area then apply direct heat to the filler plug? About how much heat should be apply for how long and when should I attempt to loosen it… Also my exhaust is in the way it feels like to where I can't get a good turn on the filler plug. Has anyone had this problem or is it just something where I'll need to remove exhaust

A heat gun will not work. You need a torch.

Torch it for about 4-5 min. Should be good enough. If not, heat longer.

I have never had to remove the exhaust to get to the fill plug. 71c on driver side, 30a on passenger side.
