It is has a .70 A/R cold side with a 72mm wheel, and a .85 A/R hot side with a p-trim wheel. Any educated opinions will be appreciated. ---- '''Shady195:''' (2009-07-14 12:58:34) {{Quote|user=|}} It probably wont spook till 4k+ Rpm… Great turbo if your going for bigg numbers.. Sell it for profit.. buy a more suitable turbo ---- '''enjoyrth:''' (2009-07-14 13:49:59) I currently have a t64e, which has a .60 A/R compressor housing with a 66mm wheel. I feel that this is where I am getting choked up. It has a p-trim wheel as well, so I will be using the exhaust housing from the t64e (which I was told was a .63 A/R, but I am pretty sure its a .85 as I don't hit full boost til 4500+) as to avoid having to make a new downpipe. I have no problem with my current lag. I made 440whp on this turbo, and I am looking for an upgrade. I am obviously looking for big numbers and am not afraid of making real power with a real turbo, which results in dealing with some lag. ---- '''Andrew84zx:''' (2009-07-14 19:02:52) [quote]'''Shady195 wrote:''' {{Quote|user=enjoyrth|So I was able to pick up a turbonetics t72 for a pretty decent price and I wanted some opinions on it. What size compressor housing does the T72 have? ---- '''enjoyrth:''' (2009-07-14 20:53:04) {{Quote|user=|}} The 440whp was made at 22psi. The t72 has a .70 A/R compressor housing. ---- '''onefast87:''' (2009-07-14 22:38:07) i also have a T72,but i chose to use the 0.70 hotside. some say it might be too big, but i think as long as you have the supporting mods, it should be no problem. PICS? ---- '''Racinjitter:''' (2009-07-14 22:53:48) I think you will have comparable spool to your t-64, maybe 1-200rpm difference. ---- '''SATAN:''' (2009-07-15 03:22:29) A P trim wheel with a .85 a/r (P-85) for the hot side, is pretty damn small for a 72mm inducer compressor wheel. Meaning, IMO the compressor wheel is too large for the turbine wheel and housing. You will make great power and it will spool quick for the street. However, if you are planning on running the T72 to its full potential, then your back pressure is going to be very high while the turbo is maxed out and might not even max out at all due to too much restriction in the hot side. If you don't plan on going past 600whp with it, I say leave it. It will run great. If you do go for larger HP numbers, just get a bigger A/R on the back side. By larger I mean something over a 1.00. Then you will start to see some noticeable lag, but even still not THAT MUCH. ---- '''enjoyrth:''' (2009-07-15 03:56:58) {{Quote|user=|}} This is exactly what I wanted to hear. I like this turbo choice because it offers me exactly that: the chance for a streetable turbo with less lag while I keep nistune, and then the option to go bigger once I get around to it. ---- '''New 2 Z:''' (2009-07-15 20:12:30) i think turbonetics sells a T3/T4 turbo that can get you up to 500hp ---- '''hypcodiiihop:''' (2009-07-15 20:21:03) {{Quote|user=|}} uhm WAHT tons of people sell turbos that can get 500hp pending your setup. your point in sayin that to me is....misquote? ---- '''DMANN:''' (2009-07-15 21:29:05) The spec on that turbo ain't that bad!!! I have a hx40 with almost those same specs and I get full spool at 3500-3800rpms! I also still have lots left for the big-end! ---- '''Shady195:''' (2009-07-16 11:36:10) [quote]'''Andrew84zx wrote:''' [quote=Shady195] {{Quote|user=enjoyrth|So I was able to pick up a turbonetics t72 for a pretty decent price and I wanted some opinions on it. No it dident fully spool till about 3800-4000rpms Like I said great turbo if hes going for big numbers like satan said 600+whp if thats what he wants then its a perfect turbo ---- '''enjoyrth:''' (2009-07-16 15:45:09) There are much more mature and tactful ways of getting your opinion out (there are also better venues, the dyno thread, for example). Back on topic. I should have some pics of the turbo up later tonight, hopefully installed  ---- '''enjoyrth:''' (2009-07-16 21:31:37) Again, back on topic: It turns out this is actually a Q-trim T72. The previous owner had bored out a P-trim turbine housing and was using that. I am going to need to find a t4 Q-trim housing with an appropriate A/R, or just go ahead and bore out my p-trim housing. Any opinions on this? ---- '''SATAN:''' (2009-07-16 22:55:24) I deleted all the useless shit in this thread. Please do not bring it back. I can tell you just from a logical point of view, it would be better suited for that 72mm comp wheel though. If you just bored out your housing with that Q trim, it would still probably be a fairly OK street setup still and would obviously breath better. Since I don't have the experience with the Q trim though, I can't say 100% it would be an ok street setup. I ran the P trim wheel on a .8x housing with my T66. That was a good match and gave me a pretty damn good street car but, your 72 is 6mm larger, so… again, to use it to its full potential, you are going to be choking it out with that p trim hot side setup. ---- '''enjoyrth:''' (2009-07-17 01:58:53) [archived image: 100_1857.jpg] old vs. new....and a bottle of home brew  ---- '''milo:''' (2009-07-17 07:01:39) Nice BEER  ---- '''onefast87:''' (2009-07-29 02:53:11) after reading this post i decided to do some measuring, it turns out i also have a Q trim T72. i think i am going to sell the 0.70 hotside and get the 0.81 or 0.96, what do you guys think? my car will remain driven on a regular basis. also i just noticed that housings available for this T72 only come in 3" vbands, no 4". ---- '''FlawleZ:''' (2009-07-29 14:24:18) {{Quote|user=|}} I would go with the .81. The .96 isn't necessary on a street driven car unless you don't mind much more lag. The .81 will still have no problem flowing ~800 whp. ---- '''sprtcrazy17:''' (2009-07-29 17:09:47) Nice thread jack guy… read up on what enjoy said about viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10575&start=72
